Hravá Klubka Celebrates Its Birthday: What I’m Crocheting with Gradient Yarn Cakes

Povídání u klubíčka #135 was a little unplanned this time, but we still went live at our usual time. The reason was simple – Ivanka from Hravá klubka was celebrating her birthday, so that morning I decided to prepare a little surprise for her and dedicate the podcast to Ivanka, her beautiful gradient yarn cakes, and the projects I am currently making from them.

During the broadcast, I returned to my visit to the Hravá klubka shop in Telč and showed some of the beautiful yarn cakes I brought home with me. The main part of the podcast, however, was dedicated to my current crochet projects and to all the different ways gradient yarn cakes can be used.

One of the highlights was the Lesní Rosa Dress, which has become one of my most successful video tutorials of the year. The combination of a lace circular yoke, a solid body and a decorative lace ruffle creates a versatile dress that can be worn throughout the year.

The Rosa Collection Keeps Growing

The Rosa story is far from over. I am currently working on a sweater version using the DMN 3007 yarn cake. I have also started a Rosa scarf from the Povodně 1 colourway. Although it began as a scarf, I am starting to suspect that it may eventually turn into a sweater crocheted from the bottom up. Sometimes the yarn simply decides what it wants to become!

Another project slowly approaching the finish line is my Anniversary Vest, made from Výroční 2. I only need to finish the edging now.

I also have a circular crochet top in progress, inspired by the latest issue of Ona Ví Magazine. For this project, I chose the gradient yarn cake DMN 3004. I love seeing how the gradual colour changes develop as the project grows, especially in circular and lace designs.

My Latest Hravá Klubka Finds

Of course, I also showed my latest treasures from Hravá klubka. And there is something interesting about them – every single one caught my eye directly in the shop, and all of them are wound in the so-called reverse colour sequence.

Take a look at the original versions in the online shop. Would you recognise them?

Čirůvka, Zmrzlina and Svítání can all be ordered, but if you would like the colours in reverse order, simply mention reverse winding in the order notes.

And after my latest yarn inventory, I discovered that I currently have 56 gradient yarn cakes, six small boxes, two large boxes and one Advent calendar at home. Clearly, my yarn collection is still far too small!
