Crochet is usually associated with comfort, calm, coffee, and pleasant creativity. But this time, I decided to add a little adrenaline. And that is how Crochet Battle, our first Speed Crochet Challenge, was born.
The idea is simple. Everyone crochets the same project according to the same instructions and measures their time. But it is not only about being the fastest. It is much more important to finish the project correctly and without mistakes. Because once a mistake appears, you have to frog it. And the time? It keeps running.
That is the magic of this challenge. At first glance, it looks like a race for speed, but very quickly you realize that your biggest opponent is not another crocheter. Your biggest opponent is your own lack of focus, rushing, and frogging.
LIVE STREAM SPEED CROCHET CHALLENGE #1 – ENGLISH SUBTITLES
At the beginning of the live stream, we will prepare our crochet hook, yarn, and stopwatch together. Then we will start the timer and begin crocheting. Everyone will crochet according to the chart, which you can find on the Krampolinka Facebook page in the comment under the challenge post. For those joining the challenge later, the square chart is also available here on the website below this text.
The rules are simple: crochet as quickly as possible, but without mistakes. If you make a mistake, you have to frog it and continue. The stopwatch stops only when the project is finished correctly. You can join the challenge not only during the live stream, but also later from the replay. Just pause the video at the beginning of the challenge, prepare your materials, start your stopwatch, and try your own time.
When your project is finished, take a photo and share it in the comments together with the time it took you to crochet it. That is where the real fun begins – comparing results, cheering each other on, and maybe discovering that sometimes the fastest hand does not win, but the most accurate one does.
All results from #1 SPEED CROCHET CHALLENGE will be shared here.
The goal of Speed Crochet Challenge is not only to compete. It is mainly a fun way to try crocheting under time pressure, improve concentration, refine your technique, and see how you work when you know the clock is running. You may find out that slower and calmer crocheting can actually lead to a better time than rushing and making mistakes. So, will you accept the challenge?
The great thing about this challenge is that you can repeat it anytime. Save your time and try again later to see if you have improved. The Speed Crochet Challenge can be both a fun competition and a small technique training. When crocheting under time pressure, you quickly notice where you make mistakes, when you lose your rhythm, and how much frogging slows you down. Step by step, you can learn to crochet more smoothly, accurately, and with more confidence. And even though there are no medals, beating your own time can be the best reward.
Prepare your crochet hook, yarn, and stopwatch. Play the video, try your own time, and let us know how you did. For this challenge, we are crocheting with VlnaHep Camilla or Natana Cherry Rose yarn (50g/125m, 100% cotton) and a 3 mm crochet hook. Can you beat Krampolinka?
The squares from this challenge will not stay as samples only. They will become part of a light and airy summer sweater, so every square you crochet has a real purpose. Step by step, we will turn the challenge pieces into a wearable crochet project. You can find the Shorts video here.
