In Sunday’s podcast Povídání u klubíčka, we explored some unusual and beautiful yarns from ROWAN and DMC. The wholesaler MiliImport also sent us stunning crochet hook sets from ADDI and KNIT PRO. For the first 100 orders, a branded DMC gift box was prepared as a special bonus. Until the end of February, you can also use a discount coupon. What do you think?
MiliImport has been operating on the Czech market since 1991. It is the exclusive importer of yarns from the French brand DMC, the British brand ROWAN, and the Swiss brand LANG YARNS. The company offers a wide range of knitting needles and crochet hooks from PRYM, ADDI and KnitPro. In addition to importing yarns and haberdashery, it also focuses on embroidery and sewing, which is why it carries a broad selection of patterns from Burda.
The full assortment is available in the online shop Textilni-galanterie.cz. If you are in Prague or nearby, you can also visit the Filium haberdashery store in the Palladium shopping center and see the yarns in person. The store is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., which is perfect for those moments when inspiration strikes and you want to take your yarn home right away.
When shopping at Textilni-galanterie.cz, you can enjoy a 5% discount by entering the code Krampolinka at checkout. The code is valid until the end of February. If you are among the first 100 orders, you will receive a collectible retro DMC box as a gift – perfect not only for embroidery floss but also for storing your crochet hooks.
You can also browse online yarn catalogues full of inspiration on the shop’s blog section. If you are looking for project ideas, I recommend exploring patterns from DMC or Rowan.
Live broadcast: Povídání u klubíčka #125 with English Subtitles
In today’s episode, we unboxed several beautiful new arrivals that are worth your attention – both for crochet and knitting. If you’re looking for inspiration for spring or year-round projects, here’s a closer look at what we explored.
One of the main highlights was DMC BRIO yarn. It’s variegated, soft, and very pleasant to the touch. Each ball weighs 100 g with a length of 345 m and is made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool. Thanks to this blend, the yarn is lightweight, easy to work with, and comfortable to wear and maintain. It’s ideal for sweaters, cardigans, blankets, and shawls. For a standard women’s sweater, you’ll need approximately 3–5 balls depending on the size and stitch pattern. A palette of 15 colors is available at Textilni-galanterie.cz.
Another beauty is ROWAN Felted Tweed – a fine tweed classic with a gorgeous texture. Each ball is 50 g / 175 m and made of 50% wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% viscose. This blend makes the yarn warm yet lightweight, with a characteristic tweed effect created by small felted wool flecks in the strand. It’s perfect for sweaters, vests, lace shawls, or wraps. With around 50 shades available, there’s something for everyone.
Felted Tweed is often combined with ROWAN Kidsilk Haze. This yarn has a length of 25 g / 210 m and is composed of 70% wool and 30% silk. It is uniquely light and airy, suitable for knitting or crocheting on its own or held together with Felted Tweed. I recommend choosing tone-on-tone shades for an elegant result. For a full sweater, about 4 balls are usually enough. If combining with Felted Tweed, you’ll typically need three balls of Rowan Felted Tweed and three balls of Kidsilk Haze. The result is light, delicate, and luxurious – ideal for layered pieces, fluffy sweaters, or fine shawls.
The package also included quality tools that will delight any crocheter. We unboxed the colorful KNIT PRO ZING crochet hook set. These hooks are made of high-quality lightweight aluminum and range in sizes from 2.0 mm to 6.0 mm. I particularly enjoy using metal hooks for cord projects – Zing hooks have a sharp tip and feel wonderfully light in the hand.
For the first time, I also saw the ADDI Colors crochet hook set in a practical case. The set includes sizes from 2 mm to 6 mm, and each hook has a different color. The hooks feature a plastic handle with an aluminum tip. The handle is ergonomically shaped with grooves, making it comfortable to hold and preventing slipping.
We also looked at the ergonomic Addi Swing Maxi hook, designed with a specially shaped handle to reduce strain on the wrist. I have to say it takes a little getting used to, but it feels light and comfortable once you adjust.
I tried crocheting with Kidsilk Haze combined with Felted Tweed and honestly – it was an amazing experience. Both yarns are high quality, easy to work with, and come in unusual, original colors. I used a 10 mm hook, and the project grew beautifully. I’m preparing an unusual vest-style sweater for you.
In the video, we also flipped through Burda Knitting Magazine. One of the featured designs – a wide scarf – is made from Rowan Felted Tweed. The magazine is published twice a year and usually includes a few crochet patterns as well. In this spring issue, you’ll find instructions not only for a wide scarf and blanket but also for Easter decorations. An annual subscription is more cost-effective if you plan to buy both issues.
