Crochet Bubble Cowl

12 října, 2025

A super easy and original Bubble Cowl made from just one skein of YarnArt Dolce!  Who’s ready to start crocheting?

The YarnArt DOLCE skein is made of 100% micro-polyester and weighs 100 g with a length of 120 m. It’s a classic chenille yarn. Some crafters avoid it because it’s not a natural fiber — but kids absolutely love it, from soft toys to oversized sweaters. I personally like to come back to chenille now and then; after all, it’s the yarn I started with. Each year, I try to bring you a new, unique pattern — and my open-stitch sweater was one of your favorites at the start of this season.

You can get YarnArt Dolce skeins at PletemeSi.cz. They’re sold in full packs, so if you’re planning quick Christmas gifts, I believe a whole pack of this soft chenille will definitely come in handy.

This time, we’ll crochet a very quick and original cowl using chenille yarn. Even a complete beginner can handle this project. You’ll be working with a chain and puff (bubble) stitches made from yarn overs. Crochet one long chain, then wrap it around your neck to set the desired size of your cowl. Count the number of bubbles, and from that point, always measure and attach the chain at the same spot. This creates a multi-layered bubble cowl. Unravel any extra bubbles at the end. The opposite ends of the chain are not joined together.

In the second step, crochet a chenille strip that will wrap around and hold all the layers of the cowl together in one place. Sew it on. Thanks to the bubble structure and tightening, the cowl will keep a uniform size. Decorate the strip with a wooden button, if you like. The first and last two bubbles should remain beyond the tightening point.

💡 TIP: If you want a longer cowl or a more decorative, looser style, use two skeins of chenille yarn.

I hope your Bubble Cowl turns out beautifully — and that you’ll wear it with joy!
