In today’s video tutorial, I’ll show you how to crochet a simple heart using Vlna Hep Cordy Macrame yarn.

Vlna Hep Cordy Macrame is a spool yarn weighing 250 g with a length of 160 meters, made of 100% recycled cotton. It comes in a wide range of colors, and the cord thickness is approximately 2.5 mm.

If you’d like to try crocheting with cords, this thickness is just right for you. It’s perfect for a variety of projects — from placemats, bags, baskets, and small decorations to snowflakes or any type of home décor.

We’ll crochet the heart into a magic ring using a smaller hook than usual. The pattern is made in just one round, which is then bordered with slip stitches. This gives the heart its shape and makes it firmer.

You can use this cute little heart as a Christmas tree ornament, a Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day, Mother’s or Father’s Day decoration, or as a small gift for celebrations, weddings, or baby showers.

CORDY MACRAME HEART

Yarn: Vlna Hep Cordy Macrame No. 8224 — available at MojeGalanterka.cz
Yarn usage: leftovers from one spool
Hook size: 3 mm
Dimensions: 6.5 cm (width) × 5.5 cm (height)
Tools: Yarn needle with a large eye for sewing ends
Time estimate: approx. 15 minutes
Skill level: Beginner-friendly

Stitch Legend:
PO – slip stitch (sl st)
ŘO – chain stitch (ch)
DS – double crochet (dc)
KS – single crochet (sc)
MK – magic ring (MR)

Cordy Macrame Heart – Crochet Pattern

We start crocheting the heart from a magic ring. The heart is worked in two rounds.

Heart – hook 3 mm
Round 1: Into the MR, crochet ch1, sc, sc, ch10, 4 dc, ch3, 4 dc, ch10, then sl st in the back loop of the first stitch. Pull the magic ring tightly closed.

Round 2: Crochet sl sts in the back loop of each stitch or chain.
Work sl st in each sc, 10 sl sts along the chains, sl st in each dc (4×).
At the top of the heart, sl st in ch, ch2, sl st in ch.
Then sl st in each dc (4×), 10 sl sts along the chains, sl st in the first sl st.
Fasten off the yarn, pull the end through the center thread from the magic ring, and tie a small knot to shape the center of the heart more precisely.

Finishing the Heart

Cut about 20 cm of yarn. Pull it under the center loop and tie a small bow.
Using a lark’s head knot, make a hanging loop from the same yarn or a thinner cord.
