In today’s tutorial, we will crochet a Christmas bauble cover for a 6 cm ornament using the classic granny stitch. We’ll be working with the thin cotton yarn Vlna-Hep Moonlight.
Vlna-Hep Moonlight comes in 100 g balls with a length of 550 m. It is made of 100% cotton. This yarn is perfect for lightweight summer dresses, skirts, and tops. It is also popular for crocheting doilies, tablecloths, decorations, and dreamcatchers. For the bauble itself, you can use either transparent two-part ornaments (for example from Stoklasa) or standard Christmas baubles sold in sets, such as those from Tesco, diameter 6 cm. We will start crocheting from a loose magic ring. After a few rounds, we slip the “cover” onto the hanging part of the bauble, tighten the magic ring, continue crocheting in rounds, and gradually decrease until the ornament is fully closed.
This pattern uses a regular repetition of two double crochets and two chain stitches, creating small rectangular “windows.” If you need video assistance, you can follow a similar tutorial here. I hope your Granny Moonlight Bauble turns out beautifully. Would you like to inspire others or share your experience with crocheting this bauble?
