Crochet Wine Bottle Sweater

crochet sweater for wine bottle

How to wrap a bottle in a funny way for Christmas? How about crocheting a long sweater that completely covers the bottle? In this video tutorial, we’ll show you how to crochet a wine bottle cover using fine cotton yarn Begonia.

YarnArt Begonia comes in a 50 g ball with a length of 169 meters. It is made from 100% mercerized cotton. This yarn is great for light summer dresses, skirts, tops, and spring projects. It has a beautiful shine, is wonderful to work with using a crochet hook, and has a Czech TZÚ certification.

VIDEO TUTORIAL (Czech Only)

As for the sweater, we will crochet the yoke into a very loose magic ring. After a few rounds, we will join the front and back parts and continue crocheting the body of the sweater. The colour changes are up to you. Once the main part is finished, it’s time for the sleeves. You can make them short just to suggest that it is a sweater, or long and tie them in front of the bottle or style them in any shape you like. You can decorate the sweater with a small Christmas appliqué or a button.

The sweater is crocheted mainly with double crochet stitches, and the sleeve cuffs are made with single crochet stitches. The magic lies in the colour changes. Begonia is also produced in a beautiful green multicolour version, which creates a lovely and funny Christmas decoration. Moreover, the wine bottle sweater can be used repeatedly and even beginners can manage to make it.

Instructions (translation)

We start crocheting with a loose magic ring. How to make a magic ring is shown in the video. We continue crocheting in rounds. Each round starts with a turning chain (2 ch instead of the first dc, 1 ch instead of the first sc) and ends with a slip stitch. The turning chain is not counted as a stitch. For an even seam, insert the hook alternately into the stitch next to the turning chain and then into the neighbouring stitch. If the sleeves are worked in one colour, crochet them in continuous rounds (spiral) without closing the rounds.
