In this tutorial, we’ll crochet a beautiful and simple Christmas bauble using Vlna Hep Patty yarn. The result is an elegant, slightly sparkly decoration that looks like a bauble wrapped in a little pouch — perfect for your Christmas tree or as a handmade gift.
Vlna Hep Patty comes in 100g skeins (185 meters) and is made of 98% acrylic and 2% metallic thread. It’s soft, warm, and ideal for projects from autumn to spring. The subtle lurex thread doesn’t scratch and gives every piece a festive shine.
🎥 VIDEO TUTORIAL (ENGLISH SUBTITLES )
We’ll crochet a tube-like cover that will fit snugly around a Christmas bauble. Once the bauble is inserted, we’ll sew the bottom closed and tie the top with a ribbon. You can also add a loop before tying to hang your bauble easily.
The pattern uses a pierced single crochet stitch, which is worked in continuous rounds. Insert the hook into the center of the single crochet from the previous round, pull up a loop from underneath, and finish as usual. Crochet loosely for the best result. This quick project is perfect for creating elegant handmade gifts or adding a personal touch to your holiday decorations.

CHRISTMAS BAUBLE PATTY
Yarn: Vlna Hep Patty – any color
Yarn usage: leftovers from previous projects
Hook: 6 mm
Styrofoam bauble size: 7–8 cm in diameter (available at Stoklasa, Kik, Teddi, etc.)
Other materials: yarn needle with large eye, stitch marker
Time estimate: about 45 minutes
Skill level: beginner-friendly
Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
CH – chain
PSC – pierced single crochet
Bauble Cover (hook 6 mm)
Row 1: Leave a long starting tail. Crochet a chain of 22 CH, and join to form a loop.
Row 2: Work 1 SC into each chain, inserting the hook under the top loop only. Important: yarn over from underneath, pull through the stitch, yarn over again from underneath, and complete the SC. This creates the “pierced” structure needed for the next rows. Crochet loosely. (22 SC)
Row 3: Work 1 PSC into each SC from the previous round. Crochet very loosely. (22 PSC)
💡 TIP: If you tend to crochet tightly, use a larger hook or consciously relax your hands. Try fitting the piece around the bauble after the 3rd round. If it feels too tight, start again with more chain stitches.
Rows 4–18: Continue with PSC in each stitch. In the last row, crochet the final two stitches as slip stitches (SL ST) and fasten off.
Loop and Finishing
Tighten the bottom of the cover using the starting tail.
Thread a wooden bead onto a piece of yarn and tie several knots underneath it.
Insert the Styrofoam bauble into the crocheted cover, add the loop with the bead, and tighten the top of the cover around the bauble.
Decorate the top with a ribbon or bow.
