Chain-loop Christmas Tree

20 listopadu, 2025

rocheted chain-loop Christmas tree. A quick and easy holiday crochet project.

For the crocheted tree, we use chenille yarn such as YarnArt Dolce or Himalaya Dolphin Baby. The skeins are 100 g and 100–120 m, made of 100% polyester. If you have it, I also recommend YarnArt Happy, because it contains a sparkling fiber that adds a delicate detail to the tree. Happy comes in 100 g and 175 m.

I designed this tree for the Kreativ Ostrava exhibition, which takes place on November 21–22, 2025 at the Černá louka exhibition center in Ostrava. The Krampolinka workshop is held only on Saturday. Feel free to stop by.

The crocheted tree consists of several crocheted layers. We crochet “flowers” made from chain loops and stack them on top of each other. Therefore we need a wooden skewer with a pointed end, and instead of a base I used a large cork stopper. We crochet a chain and count the stitches. Each flower has the same number of stitches, which we join with a slip stitch into the first stitch of the round. Each flower has six petals formed by chain-loop arches. We gradually decrease the number of chain stitches in each petal. One tree consists of 8–12 flowers.

TIP: Decorate the tree with beads attached using a hot glue gun. I recommend adding a small amount of glue to the “trunk” as well so the layers do not slide.

I hope your Creative Tree turns out beautifully and decorates your office desk or home. Would you like to inspire others or share your experience with crocheting or styling the Creative Tree? You can post your photos in the  KRAMPOLINKA Facebook Group.
