In today’s video tutorial, we will crochet an Easter chicken. For this project, I used Vlna Hep Patty yarn with a lurex thread.
Vlna Hep Patty is a 100 g yarn with a length of 185 meters. Its composition is 98% acrylic and 2% lurex thread. It is a soft yarn that is commonly used for garments from autumn to spring. The yarn is also suitable for home decor projects, such as pillows or blankets. One of the advantages of this yarn is the delicate lurex thread, which adds a subtle sparkle and gives projects a stylish touch. It is available in a lovely selection of modern, elegant colors. This time, we will use Patty to crochet an Easter decoration – a cheerful little chicken.

When making the chicken, we will crochet a small tube, which we will tighten on one end and leave a longer loose tail. Once the tube reaches the desired height, lightly stuff the chicken with fiberfill and crochet the top of the tube closed. Using the remaining center strand, shape the body of the chicken by wrapping it in the opposite direction. Next, using a contrasting yarn such as Jeans or Camilla, crochet the comb onto one of the closed corners, followed by the beak and wattle. Then crochet two small legs and embroider the wings. Finally, sew on two small black eyes, and your Easter decoration is complete.
For the stitch pattern, we will use a pierced single crochet stitch. I recommend using a sharper hook and crocheting with a relaxed tension so the stitches can be easily inserted through the fabric. This stitch pattern works properly only when crocheting in one direction. I used a 6 mm hook for the body of the chicken and a 4 mm hook for the comb, beak, and legs.
Regarding the size adjustment, my chicken started with 30 stitches and 20 rows. For a smaller chicken, try starting with 20 stitches and crocheting 15 rows.
I hope your Patty Chicken turns out beautifully and brings you joy.
